Simply the best. I don't care what people say but you can't be this good at making music by practice, what Prince has is God given. I first asked myself when I was 9yrs, how is he able to have all these super talents? I answered myself a few years later and concluded, this is divine intervention. God blessed Prince with a touch and I believe Prince knew this as well, thus he made many mentions of God and glory. The very first song on the very first album he produced was dedicated to God. I'll try to make this short, but I doubt it..2 things you need to attract black fans..soul and passion..this is why we love Phil and Chris Stapleton..Phil Collins was a drummer in a group called Genesis..when the lead singer Peter Gabriel left Phil stepped in to sing lead..he's not a singer that plays drums, he's a drummer that sings a bit, as he says..he wrote this song while going through a painful divorce after catching his wife cheating with his friend..the intensity you pick up on is him reliving that pain to perform this song for us..he gives us a piece of his soul when he sings this..if you watch the drum solo, you'll notice his eyes are closed the whole time..he's giving us his all and has to force them open at the end..that is a artist sharing himself with us..god bless him..he very sick and wheelchair bound now..just think, if Peter hadn't left the group, we wouldn't haven known how great Phil really is..I feel bad the young gen. didn't grow up with music like this, but it makes me smile to see you'll know greatness when you hear/see it..

I love this music, I have started a journey into a new world.

Looking back..I know that Karen and Richard and myself..we’re all about the same age..I would have been 36 when she died at the age of 32..Still miss her smile..her voice was other-worldly..but she was beautiful and funny..and had a mean set of sticks on those drums..her eyes sparkled..and she will forever be missed..disorders were not understood in the 70’s and 80’s..and I believe she needed a support system of friends around her to reinforce the fact that she was truly an angel here on earth..her mom telling her she was chubby from early on..is despicable..you never tell that to someone you love..I would have told her every day..that she was stunning..no pretend smiles..no lies..because she was..this amazing woman weighed 60 pounds when her heart gave out..the weekend she went home to visit..her parents..she should have been loved not just more..but the right way..I am still sorry..for everyone’s loss..she was like Michael Clark Duncan in The Green Mile..one,of,God’s creatures..but as I said..she was an angel here on earth..and I guess she loved all of us..

If I can dream, the song, was written approximately 24 hours before the taping of the Singer TV Special of 1968 entitled "Elvis". Elvis wanted a message song and he was devastated when he learned that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr was shot and killed and it happened in Elvis' adopted hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. When the song was completed Elvis had, via a piano as the only instrument, a few chances to learn the song. Fortunately, Elvis had a photographic memory and he FELT the song. He cried after the first take. He knew this was a meaningful song and the exact opposite that Colonel Parker wanted to end the special (being a Christmas song). From 1968 to 1969 to 1970 Elvis' 4 1/2 vocal octave range was incredible, Not only had his voice matured but Elvis was hungry. Hungry to put the 30 movies me made, and some of then he despised, behind him. There was no guarantee that the tv special would be a success. But, Elvis put his faith and God and again opposed to Colonel Parker Elvis put a gospel melody into the special. Elvis was on the west coast when the tv special aired. 5 minutes into the special his phone wouldn't stop ringing. Western Union messages came from around the world. This tv special was loved by he critics and fans alike. Elvis had shown who he was and he made no apologies. Excellent post. What black and white doesn't show is that Elvis had blue eyes that, at times, had a hint of violet. Also, seeing him in person he was even more handsome. I remember seeing him and I couldn't take my eyes off him. From his energy to his personality to his humor. Many don't know that Elvis' childhood was filled with bitter poverty. At times raised by a single mother. Elvis had severe health issues as a child. He stuttered. He wasn't good in school. He was shy. He watched his mother during her second pregnancy and then her depression when she miscarried. Elvis felt guilt that he lived and his brother (twin) died. The tragedy of Jessie Garon is that, depending on who you elect to believe, he might have had a blockage in his nose and throat and could have survived. That's not my opinion but others. Elvis was picked on as a child by others. Fortunately as the years progressed his confidence soared. He always knew he was different but now he started to believe...in himself. God gave Elvis many blessings and now, approximately 70 years later his talents remain.
